World First in Cape Town as WhereIsMyTransport Maps and Integrates Minibus Taxi Network
WhereIsMyTransport has achieved a world-first in Cape Town – fully mapping the city’s informally run minibus taxi network and integrating that data alongside all formal public transport data on an open platform. We mapped every minibus taxi route and common stopping point, and collected information about fares and frequency. All data is available through our open platform to anyone who wants to build an app, website or digital service. To mark this milestone, we created a schematic public transport map featuring the city’s most active routes. See the full map and read more about how we did it in our case study.
